We create experiences in France, Europe, Africa and The Middle East where we come together to taste the culture through food and friendship.

Nestled in the picturesque Loire Valley countryside, alongside the river Creuse, Le Calabash ‘Petit Conservatoire de la Cuisine’ beckons from a charming French hamlet on the edge of the forest. Here, formalities yield to two key ingredients: a passion for food and the joy for learning. Here, amidst the fertile grounds known as France’s ‘Bread Basket,’ where the finest goat’s cheese is crafted and winemaking traditions stretch back centuries, we invite you to embark on a culinary journey.

CHEFS Alison & Sidney

Chef Alison and Chef Sidney, our chefs at Le Calabash, bring a wealth of international experience and a passion for culinary innovation to every class. Their journey began at The Royal Swazi Sun Resort and Spa in Eswatini, where they met and embarked on a vibrant culinary career together as husband and wife working in perfect harmony, creating unforgettable culinary experiences. With accolades from major food guides and a medal-winning record at international competitions, their philosophy of ‘Balade Gourmande sans Frontière’—cooking without boundaries—sets the stage for an exhilarating ‘culinary adventure’ at Le Calabash.

Born and raised on the plains of Zululand, Sidney’s adventurous spirit adds a unique twist to their traditional French cooking, introducing exotic flavours from around the globe. Alongside him, Alison, brings her passion for pastries and desserts to Le Calabash, adding a sweet finale to each culinary journey.

Having cooked for esteemed guests including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, Richard Attenbourgh, Mick Jagger, Madonna, Cher, Sylvester Stallone, U2, Elizabeth Taylor, and Richard Burton, Alison and Sidney’s culinary expertise has been lauded on the world stage. Together, as a perfect duo, they create an unique culinary experience.
